First of all "hi there" and thank you for still visiting my site after so many years. I've been busy with other things and as you know my mobile nail service doesn't exist anymore. However, I'm still following the trends in the nail industry and right now I'm super excited!
About 5 years ago I posted about Salon Supply Store (then still called Gelish South Africa) opening their doors and selling Gelish in South Africa, which you could previously only get from it's official supplier in SA who were blocking sales to anyone who's not a salon owner and also had ridiculously high opening orders. Well the same people who run www.salonsupplystore.co.za and in the meantime added many other popular brands like OPI, Essie, CND, IBD, Orly, China Glaze, LeChat, EzFlow and some others, have now rebranded into Naild.ink and become the official supplier of GellyFit in South Africa. How awesome is that!

If you haven't heard of GellyFit yet then you're missing something! It's been a trend internationally for at least the last two year. Popular beauty bloggers like Sarah from Get Buffed Nails have been using it and even had an entire collection made just for them.
If you visit Naild.ink's "About GellyFit" page you'll get some insight into who created GellyFit and why.
I've been lucky enough to get my hands on a few bottles that a friend brought home for me from Australia and I've had the pleasure to use GellyFit even before it was officially available in South Africa.
As you know I also own Gelish and a few other brands of soak off gel polish and I can honestly tell you that GellyFit is THE best. I'm even wearing it right now and I'm going for Week 3! Besides that my nails have grown out, the white is still as pearly white as on the day I applied it and the pink still as vibrant in colour as on Day 1. With Gelish I've always had faders, especially "Go Girl", "All Haile The Queen" and "It's a Lily". They are such beautiful pinks when you apply them and after only 3 days they start looking completely off.
I've since purchased the entire GellyFit Oriental Flower collection from Naild.ink. This collection consists of pastel and summer colours. The GellyFit colour SS247 for example is just like Gelish's Go Girl, but it doesn't fade. I also found that Harmony were never able to release a true and bright pastel mint, turquoise or purple colour. GellyFit on the other hand have all of them and I love it!

The absolute best property of GellyFit is that it does not run away from the cuticle when you apply it - also called "shrinkage".
This problem is especially apparent with black and darker colours, but I also have some Gelish colours that are very runny in consistency and keep shrinking away from the cuticle when you apply them and don't cure them immediately. I find this so completely frustrating. Especially when I still used to work on clients, it made the entire application process so much longer.
I don't know how GellyFit managed to fix this problem, but I can literally apply black GellyFit colour (SS220) to all 5 of my fingers, without having to revisit or touch up a single time before curing. If I didn't use my one hand to apply to the other hand, I could literally apply to all 10 fingers before curing. I think this makes a huge difference for salons and nail techs. You can simply apply a GellyFit manicure much faster.
I was also told that GellyFit is the best soak off gel for nail art. But because I don't just believe anything I'm being told, I tried it out for myself. When the Gelish Street Beat Collection was just released I got my hands on it from Salon Supply Store and tried to do an ombré gradient with Street Credible (yellow) and B-Girl Style (pink). I was using the same technique that my friend showed me for doing gradients with GellyFit. The gradient simply did not come out right and it took me forever. Somehow Gelish is more runny and the two colours just kept running into each other rather than blending, whereas with GellyFit I managed to achieve a perfect blending gradient. So it's true, GellyFit is the perfect soak off gel for nail art, because it seems to have a different consistence and better properties for nail art than other soak off gels.

If you're serious about your nail art, do yourself a favor and change to GellyFit - you won't regret it. I've enquired with Naild.ink and they let me know that they will also soon be launching an online tutorial system, where they will have a basic GellyFit training class as well as regular nail art tutorials. I'm super excited about this and hope they will launch it sooner rather than later. Since December 2016 you can officially buy GellyFit in South Africa on www.naild.ink. The prices are quite hefty, but really worth it. Nail Professionals get a massive discount, but you need to register as Nail Professional first before you can log in and see the reduced prices. |
For regular collections the professional price is R349.00 per bottle and for some of the colours from the limited collection it's R379.00 per bottle. That's basically the same price as CND Shellac and OPI GelColor on Salon Supply Store,
When I asked why it is so much more expensive if you're not a nail professional, I was told that GellyFit Official in Korea set the prices and because GellyFit is a brand made for professionals by professionals, they want to encourage only salons and nail techs to buy the product. Salon Supply Store is known for making professional products available to everyone, which is why even the regular person can get GellyFit, but at a premium price.

What makes Naild.ink pretty special is that they actually have nail artists who create their own nail art using GellyFit and post it on Facebook and Instagram on a daily basis.
This gives you an idea what the colours look like and all the cool stuff you can do with them.
